Goodreads Summary:

*A note about this book: Donners of the Dead is set in 1851 – couples were often thrust into marriage together with short courtships, racism was widespread and not overly frowned upon, and women had little to no rights. What wouldn’t fly in today’s day and age was unfortunately the norm back then – it is worth keeping that in mind when reading this book.

Jake McGraw was unlike anyone I’d ever known. He was brash, rude, unapologetic and arrogant; chauvinistic, close-minded, and terribly stubborn. He was built like a tree, tall with a hard chest and wide shoulders and hands that looked like they could wrestle a bear. He was a cigar-chomping, scruffy-faced, beast of a man. I was pretty sure I hated him. And I know he hated me. But among the flesh-eating monsters in these snow-capped mountains, he was the only thing keeping me alive

The year is 1851 and pioneers in search of California gold are still afraid to travel on the same route as the tragic Donner party did years before. When the last wagon train to go into the Sierra Nevada mountains fails to arrive at their destination, Eve Smith, an 18-year old half-native girl with immense tracking skills is brought along with the search party, headed by an enigmatic former Texas Ranger, Jake McGraw.

What they find deep in the dangerous snow-covered terrain is a terrifying consequence of cannibalism, giving new meaning to the term “monster.” While the search party is slowly picked off, one by one, Eve must learn to trust Jake, who harbors more than a few secrets of his own, in order to survive and prevent the monstrosities from reaching civilization.

New Vlog: Book(ish) Unboxing

For the month of November, I unboxed a wonderful treat for you all…. my very first Book(ish) Box by Appraising Pages. The folks over at Appraising Pages are seriously some of the coolest people. They’re rock stars. And they blew me away with this box.

And, of course, in true Allie fashion, I made myself look dumb for a majority of this unboxing.

So, join me as I fumble with words, talk about weed, and call my favorite author a “badass angel.” It’s sure to be a riot.

Till next time!

THE PLAY by Karina Halle – Release Day Launch! + Proceeds go to animal charities!

A troubled Scottish rugby player who

doesn’t play by the rules.

A vivacious man-eater who’s given up on love.

When it comes to Lachlan and Kayla, opposites don’t just attract – they explode.

Kayla Moore has always been comfortable with her feisty, maneating reputation. At least it was fine

until she hit her thirties and saw her best friends Stephanie and Nicola settle down with Linden and

Bram McGregor, leaving Kayla to be the odd one out. Tired of being the third wheel with nothing but

one-night stands and dead-end dates in San Francisco, Kayla decides to take a vow of celibacy and put

men on the backburner.

That is until she lays her eyes on Linden and Bram’s cousin, hot Scot Lachlan McGregor. Lachlan is her

sexual fantasy come to life – tall, tatted, and built like a Mack truck. With a steely gaze and successful

rugby career back in Edinburgh, he’s the kind of man that makes her want to throw her vow right out

the window. But Lachlan’s quiet and intense demeanor makes him a hard man to get to know, let alone

get close to.

It isn’t until the two of them are thrown together one long, unforgettable night that Kayla realizes there

is so much more to this brooding macho man than what meets the eye. But even with sparks flying

between the two, Lachlan can’t stay in America forever. Now, Kayla has to decide whether to uproot her

whole life and chance it all on someone she barely knows or risk getting burned once again.

Sometimes love is a game that just needs to be played.

I am so so excited to be part of the release launch for Karina! As my followers know, I have been in L-O-V-E with all the Karina books I’ve read thus far (and a new Karina book will be reviewed in the next couple of days, too) and I am SO EXCITED to read this! Not only is it two books in one (that’s just how long this beauty is), but the main character is based off Tom Hardy. Omg, yessssss. Mmmm. Love me some Tom Hardy. And, Karina has announced that all proceeds received from her RELEASE DAY purchases will go straight to animal charities! So, go save a cute animal and get a steamy book out of it! I know I am 😉
