Goodreads Summary:

What happens when the kink between the pages leads to heat between the sheets?

All Blake Crawford wants is to pass his creative writing course, get his university degree, and take over his dad’s ailing family business. What Amanda Newland wants is to graduate at the top of her class, as well as finally finish her novel and prove to her family that writing is a respectful career.

What Blake and Amanda don’t want is to be paired up with each other for their final project, but that’s exactly what they both get when they’re forced to collaborate on a writing piece. Since Amanda thinks Blake is a pushy asshole (with a panty-melting smirk and British accent) and Blake thinks Amanda has a stick up her ass (though it’s a brilliant ass), they fight tooth and nail until they discover they write well together. They also may find each other really attractive, but that’s neither here nor there.

When their writing project turns out to be a success, the two of them decide to start up a secret partnership using a pen name, infiltrating the self-publishing market in the lucrative genre of erotica. Naturally, with so much heat and passion between the pages, it’s not long before their dirty words become a dirty reality. Sure, they still fight a lot, but at least there’s make-up sex now.

But even as they start to fall hard for each other, will their burgeoning relationship survive if their scandalous secret is exposed? Or are happily-ever-afters just a work of fiction?

Goodreads summary:

I have a history of picking the wrong guy. Gay? Player? Momma’s boy? Check, check and check.

Now I can’t stop fantasizing about one of the customers at the coffee shop I work at between classes. It’s just a harmless crush, right? It’s not like I ever see this guy outside of the coffee shop. It’s not like I’m going to see him while attempting to get birth control at the student clinic. While wearing a paper gown. While sitting on an exam table. Because he’s the doctor. Shoot. Me.

But what if, for once, the man I’ve had the dirtiest, most scandalous fantasies about turned out to be everything but wrong?

Goodreads Summary: When Kat was forced to leave the only home she had ever known due to her brother’s secrets, she wasn’t prepared for what was waiting for her in Tennessee or the choices it would force her to make.

Kat instantly knew she didn’t like Blake Reagan. He was cocky, stubborn, and infuriating. What Kat didn’t understand was why she couldn’t stop thinking about him or the way he made her feel.

The last thing Blake expected was for Kat Archer to storm into his world and turn it upside down. He thought he had her pegged from the beginning, but she destroyed everything he thought he knew. Blake was willing to fight to push his way into Kat’s heart, but she put up a wall at every turn as she clung to her past.

If she stayed, she’d risk the only family she had left. If she left, she’d lose Blake and every piece of her heart that he’d managed to steal.

Best and Worst (Or At Least Not So Great) Books of 2015

Hey, people!

Today’s post is my favorite posts to do at the end of the year, and I say that with this being the second year I get to do this… But I do always like to reflect on all the books I’ve read in a year and figure out which are my absolute favorites and which I could have done without. Seriously, I probably could have done without some of the ridiculously, outrageously outlandish books I read in 2015 but, eh, what can you do? Sometimes you have to get a few sour ones to really appreciate the sweet ones.

Barnes & Noble

Goodreads Summary:

We all need a hero…let the Saints of Denver begin

Orlando Frederick knows what it is to be leveled by pain. Instead of focusing on his own, he’s made it his mission to help others: sports stars, wounded war vets, survivors of all kinds. But when Dom, a rugged, damaged, sinfully attractive cop, makes his way into Lando’s physical therapy practice, he might be the biggest challenge yet. Lando loved one stubborn man before and barely survived the fallout. He’s not sure he can do it again.

Dominic Voss is a protector. The police badge he wears is not only his job, it’s his identity, so when he’s sidelined because of an injury, the only thing he cares about is getting back on the force. He expects Lando to mend his body, he just doesn’t realize the trainer will also have him working toward a hell of a lot more. As attraction simmers and flares, Dom sees that Lando needs repair of his own…if only the man will let him close enough to mend what’s broken.

An Avon Romance.

My Review:

This is a special review for me to be writing because this novella was my first MM romance! For those who don’t know, MM just means male male romance. So, if you decide that ain’t for you, don’t read.

I, however, have been getting nothing but MM romance recommendations from my friends for months now. But I kept putting them off because I KNEW Jay was writing an MM romance and I wanted hers to be the first I ever read. And let me tell you, it was so hard to stay away from other MM books. But I was determined. Because although Jay wasn’t the first adult or new adult romance I had read, her stories were the first romance books to really speak to me. Jay herself was the first author I talked to who made me feel like I could take on the world. Her books have a wonderful way of encouraging me to take risks, to let it ride, and see where life takes me by putting myself out there. And if you have ever had the pleasure of meeting Jay, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. So I wanted Jay to be the first author I read MM from. And I was so not disappointed.

Leveled is so rich with feels and the struggles of moving on. If you have read her Marked Men series (which you should before reading Leveled), then you know exactly what our main character is battling with. But the way Jay writes it, I felt so much for the main character. And so much of what Lando was thinking, what he was fearing, they felt like my own fears.

“I didn’t always have the answer, but I knew without a question that my doubt, my hesitation, and misgivings were absolutely strong enough and powerful enough to pull us apart if I let them.”

Omg, that line gives me chills every time. But lines like that, they rang so true for me and made me so much  more immersed with this story.

Leveled is a fast-paced, quick read that had to giggling and crying by the time I reached the end. AND. It has sneak peak into BUILT, which  was lucky enough to get an ARC of as part of the blog tour. I’m so excited to read it and this was a nice little treat to tide me over till I got Built!

Thank you for this story, Jay! XO
